Christmas season is upon us and that means it is once again time for the Branson Globe's annual Food and Toy Drive.
Each year, Branson Globe readers have given generously to provide groceries and toys for less fortunate families in our area, making the holidays brighter for our neighbors who can use a hand up. We appreciate each and every donation that you have graciously given.
This year, with so much need in our community, the Branson Globe staff had opted to make a few changes in our annual event. This holiday season we are focusing on need, by collecting nonperishable food items, hygiene items and necessities, such as laundry detergent, dish soap, etc. While we will still gladly accept your donations of new toys or stocking stuffers for children in our area, we are asking our readers to help meet the needs of our neighbors by donating items to help sustain them through the often harsh winter months.
Examples of donations might include canned pasta, canned meat, canned fruits or vegetables, pasta and sauce, cereal, dry milk, single-serve items and meals, or other nonperishable items that are not beyond their expiration date. We are also hoping to collect laundry soap, dish soap, body soap, shampoo, deodorant, baby wipes, toothpaste and toothbrushes and other necessary items. Toys and stocking stuffers for children are also welcome.
Food items collected will be delivered to our local food bank, Christian Action Ministries. They will also be given the hygiene items and necessities. Last-minute donations will be used to stock the Blessings Boxes located throughout our community. Toys and stocking stuffers collected will be given to the Salvation Army for use in their annual toy store. Last-minute toy donations will be offered to families who have nothing to give to their children on Christmas morning.
Drop-off sites for our 2025 Food and Toy Drive will include The Flagstore, 114 Commercial Street in downtown Branson; Motel 6 at 1023 West Main Street in Branson; the World's Largest Toy Museum at 3609 West 76 Country
