How to live better and longer!

Living a LONG life isn’t so great unless it is a QUALITY life. We are fortunate to have access to decades of research along these lines that amplify “prevention” which utilizes nutrition, exercise (just being consistently active), then all the strides made, also, with the electromagnetic therapy. All this enhances our quality of life!

As well, it is never too late to implement better and informed lifestyles and habits to ensure better health and to up the odds of a longer and quality life.

Below, please study and copy six habits (the other 19 will be addressed in the next two columns):

1) Consume a Mediterranean type diet. This is also known as the Healthy Aging Diet and is comprised of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, olive oil AND fish. It promotes heart and cognitive health as it is mainly antioxidants!

2) Practice Intermittent Fasting as this supports and maintains insulin levels, promotes cellular repair, and neutralizes inflammation. You can start by doing a 12-hour fast, then go to a 16-hour version if you can tolerate it.

3) Do movement each day which can be walking, yoga, gardening. This supports cardiovascular function and mobility along with metabolic health. Activity helps maintain muscle mass and insulin balance, and all this links to a long life.

4) Lift weights—not like body builders, but more specifically done like resistance training. I love the rubber bands—very simple.

5) Prioritizing sleep would be getting seven-nine hours per night and this IS connected to improved cognition not to mention optimizing the nuts and bolts of our immune function along with balancing hormones.

6) Manage stress or it will “manage” you! And not in a good fashion as stress eats away at our healthy inflammation response and it shortens the DNA caps (telomeres). Deep breathing, meditation and studying the Bible can quickly neutralize stress along with on time common sense problem solving!
