One of the area's most beloved holiday traditions is held on the campus of College of the Ozarks.
Honor America is the first of many Independence Day celebrations held throughout the Branson/Lakes Area and is set for this weekend.
To celebrate America's 250th Birthday, the College of the Ozarks' Honor America event is free and open to the public. The evening will include activities for the children, live entertainment, a variety of food options and a powerful patriotic production with fireworks.
The fun gets underway at 6 p.m. with face painting, basketball, bounce houses and a craft station for children to enjoy. A Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, courtesy of the Missouri Army National Guard, will also be on display.
Many local food vendors, including Chick-fil-A, Kilwin's, Kona Ice, Flat Creek, The Deck Pizza Company and London Calling will be on hand, with a variety of food and beverages available for purchase. Additionally, student-made treats, fresh squeezed lemonade and College of the Ozarks milk and cookies may also be purchased until 9:30 p.m.
The Hunt Family Band will perform during the evening, as well as two talented Army Bands—The Big Band and Fire for Effect.
The highlight of the Saturday event will be a special patriotic tribute offered by the Hard Work U Concert Band, followed by a spectacular fireworks display and a drone show, presented by Pyro Spectaculars Midwest and SkyGlow.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and join in an exciting evening of food, festivities and family-friendly fun.
Honor America is set for Saturday, June 27, on the College of the Ozarks campus, just south of Branson in Point Lookout.
