An ongoing disagreement in Forsyth could lead to the mayor’s impeachment.

At a recent City Council meeting, the Forsyth Board of Aldermen agreed to spend $30,000, which would be used to begin the impeachment proceedings against the city's mayor. The Board voted to move the funds from the city's General Reserve Fund to the General Fund to cover attorney fees.
A censure was issued by the board of aldermen against Mayor Julie AuBuchon last November, after AuBuchon was accused of creating a hostile work environment. AuBuchon was voted into office in April of 2025, and several city staff members have reportedly left their positions since she began in that position.
AuBuchon has denied any wrongdoing, and during the recent meeting expressed her disapproval for using city funds for the impeachment process.
If the impeachment process moves forward, it could lead to a public trial in the near future
