In a beautiful and meaningful ceremony on Thursday evening, 333 students—Branson High School's Class of 2026—received their high school diplomas as one chapter of their lives closed and another began.
Parents, family and friends gathered to support their graduates in the outdoor event, held at Branson's Pirate Stadium, despite light sprinkles that fell towards the end of the ceremony.
Honor graduates were recognized, as well as those who excelled in extracurricular activities and students who would be serving our country in the military. Graduates heard encouraging words from their peers, Benjamin Merrifield, National Honor Society President; and Luke Transeau, Student Council President. Also addressing the graduates and their guests, bestowing words of wisdom and expressing pride in their accomplishments was Dr. Nathan Moore, Branson School District Superintendent; Dr. Sara Strohm (Branson High School Principal) and Sonja Myer (Branson School Board President).
Musical selections for the evening were presented by the Branson High School Wind Symphony and the High School Senior Vocal Ensemble.
In her words to the Class of 2026, Dr. Sara Strohm said, in part, "Live a life that you're proud of and work hard, with purpose and passion. Never believe that you have to fit the mold that someone else decides for you. Some of the most impactful people in the world are the ones who have the courage to be different, take risks, work hard and move forward, even when the path is unclear."
When addressing the graduates, School Board President Sonja Myer shared, "Graduates, take it all in. This moment has been years in the making and you've earned every second of it. The road ahead will not always be smooth. There will be seasons of doubt, seasons of disappointment and moments when the path forward just isn't clear. In those moments, I encourage you to stand firm in what you know to be true—on the foundation that your family, your faith and this community have given you. Do not be afraid of failure, the unknown, or of starting over if you have to. Some of the greatest chapters in life begin with a wrong turn that turned out to be exactly right."
The staff of the Branson Globe joins the entire community is wishing the class of 2026 a bright and happy future. Congratulations, graduates!
