Branson Fire Rescue to host CERT Training for community members this fall

Branson Fire Rescue is inviting residents and local business members to take part in its upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training, a free, hands-on program designed to empower citizens with the skills and knowledge needed to respond during emergencies and disasters.

The CERT program educates participants about disaster preparedness for hazards that may affect their homes, neighborhoods and workplaces. The training includes both classroom instruction and practical exercises covering essential topics such as fire safety, basic first aid, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology and more. The program concludes with a live disaster simulation, giving participants a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a realistic emergency scenario.

“Prepared communities save lives,” said Branson Fire Chief Ted Martin. “The CERT program gives our residents the skills to take action when seconds count, whether it’s helping a neighbor after a storm or stepping up during a major emergency. This isn’t just training; it’s an investment in the safety and resilience of Branson.”

The CERT Team is made up of everyday citizens, neighbors, coworkers and community members, who are trained to support their families and communities when emergencies strike. CERT graduates are also encouraged to stay engaged and support local emergency management efforts year-round.

In order to become a certified CERT member, volunteers must attend all three days of training:

  • Friday, September 5, 6–8:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, September 6, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

  • Saturday, September 20, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

To register or learn more about the CERT Program, contact Branson Fire Rescue – Emergency Management Division at 417-337-8584 or BransonEMA@bransonmo.gov.
