Branson residents and visitors alike have become accustomed to seeing a familiar sight each fall at Branson's Titanic Museum Attraction.
Pink flamingos line 76 Country Boulevard in front of the Titanic, each bearing the name of a survivor.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the Titanic Museum Attraction displays the flamingos in memory of the Titanic survivors who battled cancer. Each flamingo carries the name of a passenger, as a tribute to their lives and their legacies. The 49 flamingos honor the 49 Titanic survivors who later died of cancer, seven of whom fought breast cancer. Inside the Titanic Museum Attraction, on the survivors' wall, those same survivors are marked with a pink ribbon beside his or her name.
According to the Titanic Museum Attraction, the flamingos symbolize hope, resilience and the fight for a cure for cancer. They also represent the courage of those who survived the 1912 tragedy of the Titanic and went on to battle cancer.
The Titanic Museum Attraction is located at 3235 West 76 Country Boulevard. They are open daily, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
