Fun for a great cause at Birdies Fore Scholarships
On Thursday, October 8, teams from around the area gathered for a fun morning of golf at the Social Birdy in Branson, with sponsorships and team entries benefiting the Carter Family Hero Scholarship Fund.
The fund was created by the Carter family of Forsyth to assist children of Taney and Stone County first responders with the costs of higher education. This year’s Birdies Fore Scholarships was the third annual event.

Darin Carter expressed his gratitude for the participating teams and those donating financially or contributing silent auction items. The foundation’s board of directors initially set a goal of at least two scholarships yearly, but thanks to community support, was able last year to award six scholarships to deserving students.
Tournament winners this year were the Taney County Sheriff’s Department team, narrowly edging out the defending champions, the Western Taney County Fire team; third place went to the Branson Police Department team. Closest-to-pin winner was Jess Brightwell.
