A special endeavor to help the animals who temporarily reside at the Taney County Animal Control is once again underway.
Project Linus, named for the lovable Peanuts character who was never seen without his trusty blanket, will provide extra warmth for the shelter's dogs.
"Each year, we try to revamp and provide fresh bedding for those dogs," explained a representative of the Taney County Animal Control. "This year we are asking for something special."
Volunteers are hoping to provide warmth and comfort for the dogs this year by providing thicker fleece-tie blankets.
"The thinner fleece blankets purchased at Walmart are not holding up as well," the TCAC Representative explained. "Thicker fleece blankets in the right size for our new beds can stay in place better, launder better and provide more comfort. Doubled up fleece works great for these."
Blankets with a 30-inch by 50-inch base work well for the 44-inch by 27-inch beds the shelter is using,
If any church groups, school clubs, organizations, families or individuals would like to help provide warmth for these special dogs, please contact the Taney County Animal Control for more information, via email at sherry.simpson@taneycountymo.gov.
