The Branson-Hollister Lions Club has launched a new service to the community with the opening of a food truck court adjacent to the Lions Club building.
The Nook Food Truck is the first to take up residency at the Branson-Hollister Lions Club, with the anticipation that more trucks will be added soon.
"We are currently negotiating with other food trucks and should have more trucks soon," explained Ron Leggins, Lions Club Trustee, IT Tech and Past President. "We currently have seven spots with electric and water and lots of room to add more."
The Branson-Hollister Lions Club has a total of 12 acres, including the property the Lions Club building sits on and the space next to the facility.
"We were looking for a way to make more money to help the local community," said Leggins, of the decision to start the Food Truck Court. "It will also help the swap meet, which raises money for charity."
The Branson-Hollister Lions Club will use the profits from the organization's bingo, the daily swap meet and the food truck court to help those in the Branson-Hollister area.
Said Leggins, "Besides our construction projects, we gave the local community over $100,000 for charity donations and another $18,000 in scholarships to Branson and Hollister Schools. We've donated to the Free Clinic, Harbor House for abused women, Elevate Branson for the summer children's program, glasses for those in need, Boys and Girls Club, Options Pregnancy, Christian Action Ministry Food Pantry, Suitcases for Foster Care Kids, Scouts and Branson and Hollister Schools’ Christmas programs, to name a few."
The Nook Food Truck, under the direction of Jennifer Deall, Lions Club Foot Truck Court and Swap Meet Manager, is open 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. The Branson-Hollister Lions Club is located at 1015 East Highway 76, Branson.
