IMAX hosts America’s Mural ribbon cutting

On Thursday, June 11, Branson area visitors and residents gathered with local and state dignitaries at the IMAX Entertainment Complex for the official ribbon cutting and public presentation of America’s Mural, painted by “America’s Muralist” Raine Clotfelter in the IMAX lobby this spring. 

From left to right, the 16-foot wide, 80” tall mural, incorporates nine American

flags into scenes depicting the American story, spanning from Washington at Valley Forge, the Liberty Bell, Harriet Tubman, Iwo Jima, the first moon landing and more. A Bible is featured prominently as a reminder of our nation’s faith roots. 

“We only get one 250^th,” shared the artist. “I didn’t want to miss the chance to do something.” 

Keith Miller of America’s Muralist LLC, welcomed those gathered and acknowledged the many contributions and public support that helped bring the mural to completion. He then introduced Lt. Gov. David Wasinger, featured speaker for the presentation.  

Calling the mural a “visual testament to the deep-rooted patriotism of Missouri,” Lt. Gov. Wasinger pointed out the state’s contributions to westward expansion, memorialized in the mural by the Gateway Arch. He also shared his appreciation for the mural’s closing panel, which shows an aging veteran passing the torch to a young boy and girl. “Let this mural be a marching order,” said Wasinger, challenging those present to step up, to preserve the legacy of earlier patriots and make sure the next generation knows the foundations that were laid for us. 

As part of passing that torch, Miller shared the next steps for the mural, which will remain at the IMAX until June 23 before heading to Nashville, TN, where it will be featured at the upcoming Ignite Conference and serve as a background for a performance at the Ryman Auditorium. It will then embark on a four-month tour, visiting state capitals and special events across the country as a reminder of why we are celebrating America 250. Missouri Senators Hawley and Schmitt are currently working on arrangements for a visit to the Senate Chamber at the U.S. Capitol. 

Such a tour, of course, involves significant planning and cost, and Miller shared with attendees about the GiveSendGo campaign to secure 250 donors giving $100 each.
