Crisis Center of Taney County honors volunteers

On October 5 the Crisis Center of Taney County held their annual vigil for survivors of domestic violence.  Director Becky Vermeire opened with an inspiring talk about HOPE followed by the keynote speaker, Lisa Saylor, who has testified before the Missouri congress to help get protective laws passed to expand safety for women and children.  Three volunteers were honored for their ongoing support and work at the center.

Caleb Simpson was recognized as Volunteer of the Year for giving 20 hours a week maintaining the property.  Caleb is part of the AARP volunteer work program and does an amazing job keeping everything looking good and doing needed odd jobs.  Kirk and Becky Groves were honored for providing fresh fruits and vegetables to the center each week.

The Crisis Center provides not only shelter for those escaping from domestic and/or sexual violence but also clothing and food along with emotional support and education. If you would like to be a volunteer, you may contact the center at 417-561-5105.

Also, did you know that you get state tax credit for any donation you make to the Crisis Center that is over $100?  For example: If you gave $5,000 to the center, you would receive $3,500 credit toward your state tax bill. That is a win/win for all concerned!

For financial support, send your check to P.O. Box 282, Branson, MO 65616, and request the form you need to send in with your 2026 taxes.
