Happy Father’s Day, Dad!

Across the country people take time out of their busy schedules to honor their fathers on Father’s Day. We asked our Branson Globe readers to share their thoughts about their own fathers.

Tony said, “My dad is special. Unfailingly, unconditionally loyal, loving and supportive. He is also turning 79 the day after Father’s Day, and I don’t take that for granted. Presence is precious as I’m sure memories will be one day, but presence and health are blessings that shouldn’t be squandered. They can’t be redeemed like a coupon or rebate. They must be used to the fullest – cash them in.

Said Molly, “A man of few words but when my dad spoke it was with authority, integrity and warmth. I often wish I had a recording of him reading the Bible. He captured the essence of Christ’s love in how he read the verses out loud.”

Patti added, “My dad was a great, patient teacher. On vacations, we would visit historic sites so we could learn. He gardened and we would help and learn. When I needed to learn to read he helped me, and when I had trouble with Rs, he did the speech therapy with me. Always loving and fun. Always there.”

Said Christi, “My dad didn’t do for us, but he had the patience to teach us. From lawn mowing to working on our own cars. My dad would swing shifts but if he had a day off, a fun day was to be had. Ice skating. sledding, mini bikes, boating. We had a great childhood.”

Lewanna said, "My dad was awesome – always there for us when we needed anything. Always played catch with us. Encouraged us in everything we did. He was funny and smart. I miss my dad. Happy, happy heavenly Father’s Day Dad.  I love you.”

Said Zi, “Cody Dooley is the man who stepped up for three kiddos who needed him. We love him so much, and I don’t know where I’d be without him.”

Shannen noted, “My dad, Monte Hill, has always been my biggest fan and now I get to be his. As a little girl, I would cry each night on the phone, worried sick about him while he was out driving a truck across the country working long hours to give me the world. He never missed a chance to tell me he loved me even from hundreds of miles away.  His sacrifice built a foundation for everything I am. After I left for college, he started his own business and was finally able to stay closer to home but by then I was the one who moved away. Now years later life has brought us full circle – my parents moved to Branson and soon after my husband and I followed. I opened a real estate brokerage and my dad, my rock, my role model came out of retirement to work by my side. Every single day I get to share this journey with him. It is a blessing watching him pour his heart into something with me, not just for me. It is something I will never take for granted. He’s not just my father. He’s my teammate, my encourager, and the reason I believe in showing up with everything you’ve got. I love you dad.”

Debbie commented, “My dad is turning 96 this week. He has always been my hero. He is smart, loving and remembers a lot of things from his life. I hate watching him age. It breaks my heart to think of losing him. I am very much like him. I love my daddy!”

Said Linda, “My dad was patient, loving and a great teacher. He was also a great jokester. He loved to pull pranks on us. I miss him. He’s been gone 10 years now.”

Cassie noted, “My dad was such a great guy. He has been gone for several years and I miss him terribly, but I know that he’s in heaven and one day I will see him soon. Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Dad.”

Said T.J., “My dad was a real man’s man. He was tough, hardworking, but he loved his family and we loved him so very much. Sure, do miss him.”

“Happy Father’s Day to my dad, Douglas Foster,” said Anna Lee.  “I am so thankful God has given us so many wonderful years together. I am thankful for everything. God has blessed our family with. I hope and pray for good health and more great memories. I love you, Dad.”

The Branson Globe staff wishes each and every father a very Happy Father’s Day!
