Fire chief retires after 30 years with Branson Fire - Rescue

A Branson legend has retired.

Branson Fire Chief Ted Martin completed his last day of service on Friday, April 3. Martin spent a total of 30 years with the Branson Fire - Rescue, joining the Department in 1996. He was promoted to Fire Chief in 2012. Prior to his employment with the City of Branson, Martin served as the Public Information Officer of the Western Taney County Fire Protection District.

Martin was well known for his commitment to the community, as well as his leadership skills. Branson Fire - Rescue added a new Fire Station, Number 4, during Martin's reign as Fire Chief. The department also increased staffing to meet the needs of the ever-growing city of Branson. Under Martin's leadership, Branson Fire-Rescue has continuously held one of the area's lowest fire-loss records and highest property value saves. Martin and his crew also worked to upgrade fire apparatus, and expand both safety and training programs.

Martin, who announced his upcoming retirement late last year, was honored on Friday at a ceremony held at Fire Station Number Four, with several co-workers, city leaders and community members in attendance.

Branson Fire-Rescue posted about Martin's retirement, stating, "For 30 years, Chief Martin has led with strength, humility and an unwavering commitment to others. He has guided this department through challenges, mentored generations of firefighters and helped build the culture that defines Branson Fire-Rescue today. His impact extends far beyond the firehouse. Through his leadership and dedication to public safety, Chief Martin has helped shape the safety, resilience and confidence of our community. From the residents who call Branson home to the millions of visitors who experience our city each year, his influence has been felt in moments that matter most, often when people needed it most."

To Martin, the Branson Fire - Rescue staff said, "Thank you, Chief Martin, for your years of leadership, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to keeping our community safe. You will always be a part of the Branson Fire - Rescue family."

Martin and his wife, Kathy plan to continue to reside in – and serve – the Branson community.
