Faith, Family & Country Heritage Museum in Branson West invites the community to a special exhibit feature, “SHOAH (Holocaust): How Was It Humanly Possible?” This 20-panel exhibit from Yad VaShem in Jerusalem, Israel, will be installed at the Museum on Monday, November 3, and will remain in place through Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, including Branson’s Veterans Homecoming Week, November 5-11.
This is a new exhibit from the Worldwide Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, and has not been seen often in the U.S.; a similar exhibit was in place as a special opening feature of last year’s Veterans Week and many commented on its sobering impact. Seeing this exhibit is particularly important because of the current rampant rise of antisemitism worldwide, including the U.S. How was it humanly possible to assembly-line the mass murder of Jews, ultimately killing 6 million of them along with some other minorities?
The informational panels and sobering photos in the exhibit cause viewers to think and realize that even though the Jewish people say, “Never Again,” it is indeed happening at this time. We must never allow this kind of hatred to defy moral clarity in our world; indeed, many Christians join Jews in the desire to defend the Judeo-Christian values without which there is no standard for such moral clarity. This exhibit is a don’t-miss in terms of renewing one’s personal commitment to that defense.
On Saturday, October 25, a 9 a.m. interview by BOTT Radio Network’s Mona Stafford will feature local Holocaust educator Shirah Miriam Aumann and Museum Director Jim Zbick, discussing this valuable educational opportunity. They also hope to draw veterans who will be in town for Homecoming Week, as much in the exhibit content will appeal to veterans and reinforce the values for which they fought.
There is no admission charge to visit the exhibit or the Faith, Family & Country Heritage Museum, located at 15025 St. Hwy. 13 in Branson West, which some call a local “hidden gem” of 20th-century history. Hours are Sunday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with special appointments also available. Check out the Facebook page or call 484-464-5059 with questions or for more information.
