This month marks a special milestone anniversary for a beloved Branson business.
Dick’s 5 & 10, a legendary business and an attraction in its own right, opened on Commercial Street in downtown Branson on July 14, 1961. In the early days, Dick’s focused its efforts on selling paint and wallpaper before moving to their Main Street location and changing to their business plan to operate as a 5 & 10, offering anything and everything.
Founded by Dick and June Hartley, what began as a small but well-stocked store has grown and expanded over the years. The now 10,000 square-foot venue is operated by the second generation of the Hartley family. Steve Harley handled the day-to-day operation of Dick’s 5 & 10 for the past 20 years, since Dick passed away in 2006. Following in Dick and June’s footsteps, Steve has made it his goal to keep Dick’s well stocked, with toys, kitchen items, gifts, sports memorabilia, crafting supplies, collectibles, souvenirs and countless nostalgic and hard-to-find items.
Dick’s has become one of the biggest draws in the Branson downtown area, and visitors flock to the shop to see what Dick’s 5 & 10 has to offer. In fact, no visit to Branson is complete without a stop at Dick’s 5 & 10. Through it all, the legendary shop has maintained their long-time goal of offering a huge variety of merchandise and excellent customer service.
Steve Hartley and his family appreciate the millions of customers who have come through their doors, their loyal employees who meet and exceed the customers’ needs, and the Branson community for their support throughout the past 65 years.
Dick’s 5 & 10 is open Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday. They offer online shopping as well as a personal shopper who will help you find the exact item you are seeking.
