Davis kicks off campaign with party

A life-long resident of Taney County has joined the race for State Representative of District 156.

Trent Davis held a campaign kick-off party on Sunday, with many friends and supporters in attendance. The event included a 50/50 drawing and silent auction, light appetizers, and lots of encouragement from those who came to support Davis in his bid to become the community's voice in Jefferson City.

Davis also addressed the crowd, sharing his desire to represent the area he calls home at the State Capitol.

"I decided to run for office because I was tired of seeing the Missouri Legislature constantly overturn the will of the Missouri voters," Davis explained. "We have passed several amendments and several propositions through the Missouri Initiative Petition Program, as well as the voters going in and voting, and the Missouri Legislature doesn't like that, and decided to overturn the will of the Missouri voter. That really hit me hard, because I was raised as a strong, conservative man and I was always told that too much government overreach is too far, and I was seeing that in action. So, I wanted to go up to Jefferson City myself, reign it in a little bit and put the power of the people back into Jefferson City."

Born and raised in the Branson area, Trent and his wife Tiffany are the proud parents of three daughters, Ashley, Sophia and Jane.

A kick-off party for Joshua Berzins is set for Sunday, March 29, 2 to 4 p.m. at Oaxaca Mexican Restaurant in Forsyth. Berzins is kicking off his campaign for Missouri State Representative for District 155.
