One of the favorite traditions at the Chateau on the Lake Resort is the annual display of gingerbread houses.
The year's display featured an amazing replica of the Chateau, an exquisite gingerbread chapel, and spectacular gingerbread houses and shops.
The gingerbread creations are designed by Chateau Chef Paul Trout and assembled by the talented kitchen staff.
This year's gingerbread extravaganza took 300 pounds of powdered sugar, 120 pounds of egg whites and 600 pounds of candy, cookies, pretzels and crackers to build.
The project took the staff hours to complete: 75 hours for the store fronts, 50 hours for the church and 50 hours for the houses.
Nearby the gingerbread display is an incredible life-size nativity scene built by the Fontanini Family of Italy.
The nativity pieces are handcrafted and hand painted, and the scene was purchased at a cost of $125,000. Only two such nativity scenes were created—the one located at Chateau on the Lake and the other featured in the movie “Home Alone.”
Mr. Emanuele Fontanini visited Chateau on the Lake and personally signed each piece of the nativity set, making the scene truly priceless.
The gingerbread display and the nativity scene are on display through the end of the year at Branson's Chateau on the Lake.
