Branson Character Champions recognized

Students from Cedar Ridge Intermediate and Buchanan Intermediate were recently recognized for showing outstanding character on a daily basis. One fourth, fifth and sixth grade student from each campus is selected for this special honor. CRI Students: Natasha Christian, Alora Chowdhury, Zooey Francois. BI Students: Brynlee Walker, Auggie Canaday, Patterson McGregor. Congratulations to these champions of good character, and thank you to Central Bank of Branson for sponsoring this wonderful award!


Branson 8th Grade Honors Band reaches milestone

The 8th Grade Honors Band reached a historic milestone by becoming the first eighth grade ensemble in school history invited to perform at the Missouri Music Educators Association Conference. Under the direction of John Kelly and Cassie Smith, the students delivered an outstanding performance to a packed audience, representing Branson with excellence and professionalism.


300 career wins!

Congratulations to Lady Pirates Head Coach Kip Bough on reaching 300 career wins! Coach Bough hit this incredible milestone on January 16, 2026, with a Lady Pirates victory over Jasper. Activities Director Dr. Brandon Wilson honored Coach with a plaque before the February 2 Lady Pirates home game.


New principal named at Buchanan Intermediate

The Branson Board of Education approved the appointment of a new principal for Buchanan Intermediate during February’s Board Meeting. Mr. Tyler Prochazka will assume the role beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. He will succeed Dr. Matt Dean, who will begin his duties as Branson’s Executive Director of Operations. Prochazka currently serves as Assistant Principal for Buchanan Intermediate and has been with the district since 2008. 







FORSYTH SCHOOLS


Forsyth Chess Club captures team trophy at Gainesville tournament

On Saturday, February 21, several members of the Forsyth Chess Club participated in an invitational tournament hosted by Gainesville (Missouri) High School. At the end of the six-round tournament, Forsyth came out on top in K-12 team competition with Wyatt Miller, Max Merrell, Adam Baar and Tony Hoffman combining for 17 wins; followed by Rolla High School (14.5) and host Gainesville (13.5).

Sophomore Wyatt Miller earned the first-place individual medal in the K-12 division, at 6-0; Max Merrell and Adam Baar finished at fifth and eighth place. In the K-8 division, Joel Fisher placed fourth in individual competition. 


The Chess Club is coached by Philip Thomas, Eric Boston and Dr. Michael Lewis. They will host the Forsyth Invitational on February 28. Mr. Thomas said he continues to be impressed with the students’ dedication to learning and improving their game, with several reaching personal goals and qualifying for the state tournament next month.  


Forsyth Chess Club meets on Tuesdays after school and is open to any interested middle school or high school students regardless of experience.

Reeds Spring H.O.W.L. students recognized

Reeds Spring Middle School recently recognized students who displayed Habits of Work and Learning (H.O.W.L.). One of those habits is Emotional Intelligence. Congratulations to these students: Will Campbell, Harper Cunningham, Amelia Erbelding, Gabe Guffey, Hunter Hass, Zaya Loveland, Olivia Simms, Cole Slaybaugh, Zoie Sullivan, Marcus Turner, Grant Traupman, William Underhill, Nate Waters


RSHS wrestler qualified for state

Reeds Spring senior Kadyn Allerton will compete at the Class 2 District 3 State Wrestling Championship in Columbia this week. Allen placed third in the 138-pound weight class at the district tournament in Buffalo. The state tournament is held on February 25 and 26.

Boys Basketball: The Wolves split two games last week, beating Buffalo 60-48 and losing to Spokane 53-41. Brody Pettigrew scored 13 points in the Spokane game.

Girls Basketball: The Lady Wolves beat Buffalo 39-29 and lost to Strafford 79-10.

Speech and Debate: At Neosho, Colbie Cypret placed second in Humorous Interpretation, and Mikayla Baker placed second in Program Oral Interpretation. 

Winter Guard: The RSHS Winter Guard placed third at the Nixa MCCGA festival. The group increased its score by 14 points over the previous week.

Table Rock Career Center Professionals of the Month

Table Rock Career Center recently recognized four students as the Professionals of the Month. Aaron Bull is a senior from Crane High School and is in the Computer Technology program. Micheal Baldwin is a Reeds Spring senior also in Computer Technology. Dalton Rogers is from Forsyth and is in the Graphic Design program. Rane Blair is a senior from Reeds Spring who is also in Graphic Design



Six Career & Technology Education students qualify for state competitions

Table Rock Career Center students are proving that hands-on learning leads to real-world success. Six students qualified for the SkillsUSA Missouri State Leadership and Skills Conference after earning top-three finishes at district competition. Their performance reflects hours of preparation and technical skill.



Students advancing to State include:

Haylee Cain (Reeds Spring) – First Place, Nurse Assisting

Natylei Fish (Reeds Spring) – First Place, Basic Healthcare

Athena Cohen (Spokane)– Second Place, Basic Healthcare

Aidan Broomfield (Reeds Spring) – Second Place, Automotive Service Technology

Aubrey Melton (Branson) – Second Place, Baking

Lucia Esqueda (Spokane) – Second Place, Culinary Arts


Students in the Criminal Justice and Marine Technology programs do not have district competitions, so they will also participate in state-level competitions. 

All of these students attend Table Rock Career Center, which serves 11 school districts in Stone, Taney, and Christian counties. 


SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing students for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. The Missouri State Conference will be held April 9-11 in Linn, Missouri.
