Stone County Library brings line dancing to Galena

The Stone County Library’s Galena Branch is inviting community members of all ages to step onto the dance floor with a new Basic Line Dancing program.

Designed to be welcoming for beginners, the program will feature simple and easy-to-follow line dances set to good music in a safe, comfortable setting. According to the library, the activity is open to everyone, with no previous line-dancing experience necessary. 

The program began Aug. 20 and is scheduled to continue each Thursday through Sept. 24. Classes are held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Galena Library. The library’s calendar lists the program as open to all ages. 

The program offers more than simply learning dance steps. It provides an opportunity for community members to get active, enjoy music and spend time together in a relaxed environment.

For those who may have always wanted to try line dancing but felt intimidated by complicated routines, the program is geared toward keeping things simple. Participants can learn at their own pace while becoming familiar with basic movements and dances.

Line dancing can also be a fun way to encourage movement and social interaction, making the library’s newest activity an opportunity for people to enjoy something different while connecting with others in the community.

The Galena Branch regularly offers a variety of activities and programs for local residents, and the line-dancing sessions add another option for community members looking for a fun activity outside of the library’s traditional book-focused programs.

Upcoming sessions are scheduled for Sept. 10, Sept. 17 and Sept. 24, all from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stone County Library.

Whether someone is completely new to line dancing or simply enjoys moving to good music, the Stone County Library is encouraging residents to come join the fun.

The program’s message is simple: easy steps, good music and a safe setting—making it an accessible way for the Galena community to get together, learn something new and have a little fun along the way.
