Have you ever felt lonely in your own neighborhood, or wished for a better sense of community and fellowship? If that describes you or someone you know, plan to attend Learning on Wednesday at Kimberling Area Library on Wednesday, September 10, for “How to Become an Engaged Neighbor and Why Your Health and Community Demand it.”
We do not need more good neighbors. Instead, we need engaged neighbors! Join David Burton, Missouri’s Neighbor-in-Chief and creator of Missouri Good Neighbor Week over 20 years ago, to learn how knocking on a neighbor’s door, learning their name and building a relationship can enhance mutual well-being. He will show you how, by making this change and moving against the tide of isolation and loneliness that has become pervasive in our culture, you will see the difference it makes in your life, neighborhood and community.
As a nationally-recognized leader in the art and heart of neighboring, David will facilitate an informative and connecting discussion that will build a block-wide sense of belonging in your community. David brings a wealth of creativity and passion to this topic as a community development specialist with the University of Missouri Extension since 2001, and as a newspaper columnist and national award winner for his work.
This inspirational presentation will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, in the Library Community Room. Coffee and light snacks are provided; attendance is FREE, and pre-registration is not required. For more information about this and other programs at KAL, visit www.kalib.org or call 417-739-2525. See you there, neighbors!
