Reader’s Corner: Increase your water knowledge at Learning on Wednesday

Are you concerned about water quality in the Ozarks? If you live near a lake or stream, are you familiar with watershed management? Or maybe you’ve heard horror stories from people who have been informed their septic system doesn’t meet environmental regulations, but the repairs or replacement will far exceed their budget?

These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed at February’s Learning on Wednesday session, hosted by Kimberling Area Library on Wednesday, February 11, featuring guest speakers Jerry Harman and Carin Love.

As a nonprofit water quality organization, H2Ozarks (formerly known as Ozarks Water Watch) has operated for over 20 years in SW Missouri and NW Arkansas to provide outreach, education, environmental promotion and hands-on projects that help improve local water quality. The presentation will provide an overview of their current and past projects, including septic remediation, water quality monitoring, watershed management plans, homeowner assistance, volunteer programs and partnerships to ensure quality water for our area.

The H2Ozarks motto includes “small changes lead to big changes” and “give up to give back,” emphasizing the part we all can play. Come and learn how to enrich our communities, and maybe meet some new neighbors!

This informative session will begin at 10:15 on February 11 in the Kimberling Area Library Community Room, 45 Kimberling Blvd. in Kimberling City. Coffee and light snacks are provided; attendance is free; and pre-registration is not required.
