Now enrolling: OACAC Head Start and Early Head Start—where bright futures begin

Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) Head Start and Early Head Start (HS/EHS) is now enrolling children ages 0-5 and expectant mothers for the 2026-2027 program year. This high-quality early childhood education program supports the whole family, helping build strong foundations for lifelong success.

Head Start is a powerful, proven tool for uplifting families. Nationally, more than 37 million children and families have benefitted since the program began in 1965. Locally, OACAC Head Start serves more than 700 children and their families each year across 10 Southwest Missouri counties. The comprehensive services offered through HS/EHS include:

·       Individualized early learning and child development support

·       Preventative health, nutrition and dental screenings

·       Family goal setting and support for well-being

·       Mental health, speech and developmental referrals

·       Inclusive services for children with disabilities

·       Strong parent engagement and leadership opportunities

Multiple options are available to meet families’ needs: full-day, extended-day, and home-based services. Families who meet income guidelines are encouraged to apply, including those receiving food stamps, families experiencing homelessness and children in foster care. Transportation may be available depending on bus routes and locations, and additional support is offered to help families participate in program activities.
