Nola June Lueddecke was born on March 26, 1924, at her home in Hatfield, Missouri. The doctor drove 15 miles through six inches of snow in his Model T to deliver her for a charge of $10. June's father was a school superintendent at various schools in Missouri as June was growing up. June attended college at Cape Girardeau. After college she worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell telephone company.
In 1943, June moved to California, where she worked for Douglas Aircraft in El Segendo. June met and married her husband, Johnny Sokolic there. They had no children. They both enjoyed surfing, dancing, hiking and bike riding. (June continued to ride her 15-speed, all terrain bike until she was 85.)
In 1975 they moved back to Cape Girardeau to be near family. In 1980 they moved to Branson. Johnny died in 2001. June loves it here and wouldn't live anywhere else!
June attributes her longevity to a good diet and lots of exercise. June is one of Jehovah's Witnesses and stays busy with Bible study, meeting attendance, letter writing and making phone calls. Because of her faith, she has a positive and joyful outlook on life.
