Joplin man charged with multiple felonies

A Joplin man is in the Taney County jail facing multiple felonies after being arrested by Branson police.

Jeffrey Landsaw is facing one felony count each of Second Degree Assault, Third Degree Assault, Third Degree Domestic Assault and Armed Criminal Action along with one misdemeanor count. He could face a possible 30 years in prison if convicted of all charges.

According to court documents, Landsaw was arrested in connection with an incident in Branson on Sunday, Aug. 9.

A police report states Landsaw is accused of assaulting a woman by throwing her on the ground, getting on top of her and hitting her in front of witnesses. While assaulting the first victim, Landsaw allegedly threw a table which struck a second victim in the leg, causing bruising and pain to the knee of the victim.

A third victim, related to the first, tried to stop Landsaw, so Landsaw pushed them away, causing the victim to use pepper spray on Landsaw. The victim told police they were afraid Landsaw was going to continue their attacks on not only the victim but those around them.

Landsaw is alleged to have left the area of the first conflict and gone into a common area of the residential complex where an incident with a fourth victim was reported to take place. The victim in the second incident said Landsaw shoved them to the ground. Landsaw had a cast, which the victim claimed he used to strike them in the head, causing bruising to the face.

An officer said they read Landsaw his Miranda rights but he refused to talk to the officer.

The report states after being taken into custody Landsaw made a number of statements, including “I’m a terror down there,” “You saved a lot of assaults by taking me away,” and “Thank you for taking me to jail. If another little gay one spurred me on, I’d beat his [profanity] ass. I know that’s a criminal offense, but…”

Landsaw was declared indigent in Taney County court, meaning he will be given a public defender to defend him in the case. He is currently in the Taney County jail without bond.
