One local couple has found a fascinating way to brighten the holiday season for many and help an area nonprofit at the same time.

The Bennett Christmas Lights will once again shine brightly at their Sherry Lane home. Each year, the Bennetts light their home with thousands of lights, all set to music, in one amazing display. This year marks the seventh year for the holiday extravaganza.

"Our light show is designed to bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart," explained Kathy Bennett. "Every light is programmed and synchronized to music. Just tune your car radio to 96.3 to enjoy the full experience."

The Bennetts use this unique lighting display as an opportunity to help the Branson Humane Society. They do this in honor of their beautiful dog, Chestnut.

Said Kathy, "If you feel inspired to give, we gratefully accept donations for the Branson Humane Society. All monetary gifts go directly to the Humane Society. A secure donation box is located at the end of the driveway. While donations are appreciated, they are never required to enjoy the lights."

In addition to financial donations, the Humane Society is always in need of dog food, cat food, puppy food, kitten food, pellet cat litter, bleach, and paper towels. They are also currently in need of kitten milk replacer and pure canned pumpkin.

The public is invited to visit the Bennett Lighting Display, located at 321 Sherry Lane in Branson, between the hours of 5:30 and 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bennett Christmas lights can be viewed nightly through December 31.

First Baptist Church of Branson's annual Christmas Bash offered a morning of fun for area families. The 16th annual Christmas Bash welcomed adults and children alike, as honored guests of the church, for some holiday fun on Saturday

Children enjoyed inflatables and bounce houses, face painting, crafts, balloon animals, games and more. Approximately three dozen children's bikes with helmets were given away, and the Chick-fil-A Santa Cow was on hand for photos.

First Baptist Church partnered with Christian Action Ministries for the event, providing groceries for each family in attendance. A prayer zone was also set up, offering prayer and encouragement for all.

The Christmas Bash is just one way that First Baptist Church helps serve the community.

Families enjoy Santa in the Park

BY CYNTHIA J. THOMAS, Staff Writer

Hollister’s Chad A. Fuqua Park was abuzz with Christmas spirit families having fun on Sunday afternoon, December 7, as the Hollister Area Chamber hosted the annual “Santa in the Park” Christmas celebration.

As families made their way along the path through the park, they enjoyed treats like popcorn, cookies and hot cocoa to help take the edge off the afternoon’s chilly breeze, along with small gift items from area businesses, Hollister schools, City of Hollister officials and the College of the Ozarks. Along with treats, kids could get their faces painted, make a craft item, and write a letter to put in Santa’s mailbox—and each letter will receive a personal response, thanks to caring community volunteers!

Of course, Santa and his sleigh were on hand for photos, and after visiting with Santa, each child picked up a wrapped gift thanks to Getting Floor’d, one of several much-appreciated sponsors—see the lists of sponsors in photos accompanying this article and on the Chamber Facebook page, and be sure to thank them for their support of a fun family afternoon!
