Hillbilly Days bring small-town fun to Reeds Spring

Reeds Spring recently hosted its annual Hillbilly Days event, bringing nearly 500 residents and visitors together Saturday for hometown traditions, friendly competition and plenty of hillbilly fun.

Hosted by the Reeds Spring Events Committee, the celebration featured a parade, pageant and a variety of contests and activities throughout downtown Reeds Spring.

Reeds Spring Events Committee member Wendy Youngblood said Hillbilly Days is important because it brings people together while keeping activity in the small town and supporting local vendors.

“It keeps activity in our small town and helps local vendors,” Youngblood said.

Among this year’s winners, Meadow Roberts was crowned Miss Tomato, Debbie Page earned pie champion honors with her peanut butter pie and Brenda Purvis was named Pickle Queen for her dill pickles. Little Oaks Homestead was named Best Hillbilly Vendor.

Unite Table Rock Lake was named the Hillbilly Days float winner and received a basket of goodies. The group also showed some Hillbilly hospitality during the parade, picking up Tri-Lakes Humane Society dogs and their walkers who were getting too hot along the route.

Other competitions throughout the day included the watermelon crawl, skillet toss and pig scramble, rounding out another year of Hillbilly Days festivities in Reeds Spring.
