First Baptist Church Kimberling City Prime Timers visit Ark Encounter, Creation Museum and BLINK Cincinnati

Thirty-one members and friends of the Prime Timers class at First Baptist Church Kimberling City traveled to the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area Oct. 7–10 for four days of biblical education, fellowship and sightseeing, including visits to the Ark Encounter, the Creation Museum and BLINK Cincinnati. Dr. Jeff Hardy serves as pastor of the church.
The trip was hosted by Chris Goodman, Prime Timers class leader and a Baptist Bible Fellowship International missionary and church planner who previously served in Australia. Dr. David V. Lott volunteered as the group’s organizer, trip planner and driver, coordinating the itinerary and transportation.
The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky, features a full-size representation of Noah’s Ark based on the dimensions recorded in Genesis. At the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, participants explored exhibits presenting biblical history and the relationship between Scripture and the natural world.
“This was an incredible time for my wife and me,” Goodman said. “Not only were we able to spend time deepening our understanding of the biblical lessons of Noah’s Ark, but we were also able to strengthen our relationships with the other attendees and get to know them on a more personal level. It was truly a most enjoyable time of fellowship and of increasing our knowledge of God and His plan of salvation for mankind.”
Beyond the two biblical attractions, the group spent two evenings experiencing BLINK Cincinnati, a large-scale public art and light exhibition that transformed buildings and public spaces with illuminated artwork, projections and other visual installations. The evening outings added a different dimension to the trip and gave participants more opportunities to enjoy one another’s company.
For Lott, organizing the journey meant attending to the many practical details that make group travel possible. “Trips like this give people an opportunity to experience places connected with subjects they have studied in Scripture while also enjoying something equally important—the fellowship that develops when people travel together,” Lott said. “My job was to take care of the details so everyone else could enjoy the experience.” Lott, who holds a Ph.D. in Bible Exposition from Liberty University, also offered biblical and historical commentary during the museum visits.
Goodman emphasized that experiences outside the regular Sunday morning classroom provide meaningful opportunities for members of the Prime Timers to strengthen friendships while continuing the class’s commitment to Christian fellowship and biblical learning.
