A recent fire destroyed the home of a well-known family—members of the Branson entertainment community.
Roberta Copeland and several family members were at their Branson home near Skyline Road when the fire broke out. Everyone, including the family's pets, got out safely, yet Copeland's two-story house was a complete loss. Copeland, the former owner of the long-running and popular show 50's at the Hop, was a long-time resident of Branson. Four generations of Copeland's family shared the home.
"I am beyond grateful to all the incredible First Responders of Stone County, Taney County Fire and Rescue, and Western Taney County that responded so quickly to my call for help when we were overtaken by fire and smoke within minutes," said Copeland in a social media post. "Thank you for keeping the forest from burning located behind our home as well as our neighborhood homes safe."
Copeland expressed her tremendous gratitude to neighbors who assisted with the family's immediate needs and to a large group of family and friends for their help and support.
While Copeland is thankful that she and everyone in her home made it out safely, they now face the nearly insurmountable task of beginning to rebuild their lives. In addition to help from family and friends, the Red Cross was on site to provide immediate service to Copeland and her family.
Family members of Roberta quickly set up a GoFundMe account to help with the family's most pressing needs, including shelter, clothing and other essentials. To donate to Copeland, visit GoFundMe.com and search "Help Roberta after a devastating fire."
The family also requested prayer as they take the necessary steps to begin to move forward, following such devastation.
Copeland noted, in her social media post, "Thank you for your outpouring of love and generosity. I love our Branson community."
