Saturday, September 20, and Sunday, September 21, 2025, marks the biennial Discovery Quilters quilt show to be held at the Shell Knob Elementary School. The theme, “We are All Stars and We Deserve to Twinkle” is a judged show showcasing the talents of our membership with a colorful display of beautiful quilts. The show hours are Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 9-3. Attendees will be able to view our local quilter’s work, shop our vendors, bid on silent auction items as well as our live auction, visit our boutique that features many handmade items for sale, and win door prizes.

Our special stage display will be some of the “Prism Quilts” by Jason Yenter. Many members participated in bringing this display to life. Our honored guest, Rochelle Rice, The Inappropriate Quilter, will also showcase some of her quilts as well as do a presentation at noon both days.
There will be demonstrations on Saturday from 10:00-11:30. At 1:00 both days we will have quilt turnings featuring the quilts of two of our members.
Discovery Quilters members make Comfort Quilts for the Shell Knob community when there is a death or family tragedy, Baby Quilts for The Purple Flower Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Center, Pregnancy Lifeline, Barry County Health Department and Stone County Health Department. We also make Quilts of Valor or Quilts of Honor for our veterans. The members also make a quilt for each graduating student at the LUC Boys Ranch. These projects are made possible by our membership giving of their time, talent and treasure to benefit others. To assist in these efforts, we will have several beautiful adult quilts and baby quilts that will go to the highest bidder in our silent auctions. The silent auction proceeds will help us fund supply needs and the machine quilting process for our ministries.
We will have a live miniature quilt auction at 2:00 on Sunday with 100% of the proceeds going to Noah’s Ark Daycare. Stumpff Auction service has agreed to provide their services gratis. We encourage everyone to come out to be able to purchase one of these small masterpieces and help build the lives of our young people at Noah’s Ark Daycare.
The show will close on Sunday at 3:00 with a viewer’s choice award and the drawing of our queen size opportunity quilt and a drawing for a Brother sewing machine donated by Shawn’s Sewing Center of Springfield, MO. In addition, we are blessed to have a handcrafted walnut chair that incorporates a treadle sewing machine frame made by Evan Parrot, a local craftsman. You need not be present to win.
