Connect with resources at a Senior Resource Fair

A part of growing older that many of us don’t like to admit is that we may need more help! From the practicalities of daily living, to medical insurance and assistive medical devices, to decisions to budgeting and financial planning, aging can be challenging!

Fortunately, many wonderful area agencies and nonprofits are available to help with those challenges. The problem, however, is that many seniors either do not know about the services and assistance available to them, or aren’t sure how to access the help. That’s where Deb Rambo and her team at 4 Ozarks Seniors come in, offering Senior Resource Fairs in Taney and Stone counties to connect seniors with services.

The mission of 4 Ozarks Seniors is to get word out to senior citizens about available resources, meet with seniors to discuss their needs and match them with the best fit for their needs, and connect them with the right agencies and nonprofits. In a recent conversation, Rambo shared that seniors are often given a list, usually by their doctor or someone who means well, but accessing the resources may involve several phone calls, long periods on hold, navigating AI or a menu that assumes good internet access or being able to download and print.  Some seniors don’t have that good internet access, or don’t use a smartphone, so they just give up. Attending a resource fair is a wonderful chance to have those conversations in person and ask questions.

Senior Resource Fairs will be held on Thursday, March 5, at Our Lady of the Cove Church, 20 Kimberling Blvd. in Kimberling City; and on Thursday, March 12, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 203 Vaughn Dr. in Branson. Both events will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can help change someone’s life today by encouraging them to attend one of these fairs, or attending on behalf of someone who cannot physically make it and sharing the information with them. Studies have shown that isolation can be as physically detrimental as a pack-a-day smoking habit, so helping foster connections and meet needs for senior citizens can empower and enrich their quality of life exponentially.
