Branson Board of Education receives Governance Team Award for 12th time

The Branson R-IV Board of Education is among 26 Missouri school boards earning the Missouri School Boards’ Association’s 2026 Governance Team Award. This marks the 12th time the Branson Board of Education has received the award since 2013. 

This prestigious award recognizes the commitment of school boards and superintendents to ongoing professional development and effective governance practices. The award also recognizes their commitment to regional and statewide leadership and to active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools and the students they serve. 

The Branson Board of Education met the following criteria: 

● The district is state accredited. 

● New board members completed the New Board Member Training requirement through MSBA. 

● Current board members fulfilled the Refresher Training requirement through MSBA.

● At least two board members attained Advanced Certification through MSBA.

● At least one board member attained Master Certification through MSBA.

● At least a quorum of the board and the superintendent attended the 2025 MSBA Annual Conference, the 2025 MSBA Summer Summit, the Fall 2025 MSBA Regional Meeting and two MSBA Advocacy Lunch & Learn Webinars over the past year. 

● Board members volunteered at a community event. 

● A board member representative voted in MSBA’s Delegate Assembly.

● Board members attended MSBA Advocacy Day.

“Earning the Governance Team Award for the 12th time is a reflection of our Board’s commitment to continuous improvement,” said Branson Board President Sonja Myer. “We are proud to invest in ongoing learning and leadership development so we can make informed decisions that support student success and strengthen our district.” 

The school boards and superintendents receiving the award were recognized during MSBA’s 2026 Summer Summit held June 15 at Lake of the Ozarks. The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a not-for-profit association that exists to help school boards ensure all students succeed.
