Boost your faith at Believers’ Summit

On Thursday, August 7, several local faith and community leaders and other citizens gathered to learn more about the Believers’ Summit, scheduled for October 15 through 17 at the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Convention Center. The annual Summit is a ministry of Turning Point USA, founded by Charlie Kirk when he was just 18 years of age to encourage a return to faith and conservative values, particularly among Gen Zers, who are presently turning toward such values in record numbers. Kirk’s videos challenging anti-biblical culture, including his on-the-ground “Prove Me Wrong” series, have been immensely popular.

Attendees at the Branson informational meeting included several from area faith-based nonprofits, members of the local Concerned Women for America Prayer/Action Chapter and some area elected officials, all with the shared goal of encouraging others in the faith heritage and values that helped build America.

The meeting was hosted at the Little Heroes Park facility, just off U.S. Hwy. 65 in Walnut Shade, and coordinated by Jerry Angelo of Vanguard Marriage and Family Advocates, a southwest Missouri nonprofit ministry that helps inspire and encourage healthy, biblically-based marriages [https://vanguardmfa.org/about-us/]. Adam Dommeyer, who serves as a TPUSA Faith representative in the Midwest, was on hand to present information about the Summit and answer questions.

TPUSA Faith, an outgrowth of Turning Point, is aimed at uniting and educating people of faith of all ages and was inspired in part by pastors who dared to stand up against COVID-19 restrictions by keeping churches open. The Believers’ Summit offers the opportunity to gather for corporate worship and hear inspirational speakers, as well as gain practical information about how to facilitate ministry in local communities. Locations vary for different years, and this year’s Oklahoma setting offers easier travel accessibility for Southwest Missourians.

“God has given us a season of reprieve,” stated Dommeyer as he stressed the importance of local and regional ministries to strengthen and support marriage/family, patriotism/history, college campus ministry, intergenerational interaction in churches and more. “People are reaching out! We need to get ready!”
