Voters in Taney and Stone counties cast ballots

Tuesday's elections brought moderate voter attendance as several races were decided.

In Taney County, a total of 10,681 ballots were cast, representing 26.14% of voters.  

Taney County saw several contested races on Tuesday.

Brad Hughes narrowly secured the office of Prosecuting Attorney, with 44% of the vote.

Dawn Bilyeu will continue to serve as County Auditor, having received 60.94% of votes.

Marshall Howden was chosen Branson Township Committeeman with 55.71% of votes, and Anne E. McGregor narrowly beat out her opponent as Branson Township Committeewoman, with 53.24% of voters giving her the nod.

Ted Martin, with a wide lead, was selected Jasper Township Committeeman, and Rita Crosley was chosen Jasper Township Committeewoman by a very narrow margin.  

In a very close race, Joshua Heston was chosen as Oliver Township Committeeman, narrowly defeating two opponents, and Susan Bearden was named Committeewoman for Oliver Township.

Kendra Keys was selected as Committeewoman for Scott Township.

In the Swan Township race, Ron Houseman was named Committeeman and Sheila Wyatt was selected as Committeewoman.

The voters said No to the Merriam Woods question, by a vote of 137 to 120.

Brian Seitz, the only Republican candidate for State Representative District 156 and Trent Davis, representing the Democratic party will go head to head in November.

There was one Republican candidate on the ballot for State Representative District 155, and one Democratic candidate on both the Taney and Stone County ballots. Matthew Overcast and Joshua Berzins will face off in the November election.  

A total of 35% of Stone County voters made the decisions for the county on Tuesday, with 9,084 voters heading to the polls.

Burt Whaley was the Republican Party choice for State Representative District 138. Whaley, who received 77.75% of the vote will face Democratic candidate Chris Daugherty in November.

There was one Republican candidate on the ballot for State Representative District 155, and one Democratic candidate. Matthew Overcast and Joshua Berzins will face off in the November election.  

Kelly Power was elected Presiding Commissioner for Stone County by a narrow margin, with 38.20% of the votes.  

Denise Dickens retains her position as Stone County Clerk, by gaining approval of 62.79% of voters.  

In other contested Stone County races, Rob Gillum was selected Flat Creek A Committeeman, Gary L. Clark was selected Ruth C Committeeman and Kathy J. Clark was chosen Committeewoman for Ruth C Precinct.

Stone County voters said Yes to the Central Crossing FPD Question as well as the Nixa FPD Question.
