USACE reopens swim beaches, closes Aunts Creek again

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reopening the swim beaches at Big M, Cape Fair and Old Highway 86 campgrounds on Table Rock Lake.

Meanwhile, the swim beach at Aunt’s Creek has been closed again until further notice.

The temporary closure was a result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by field office personnel. Two acceptable water samples are required by the Stone County Health Department prior to reopening a swim beach.

USACE has posted signs indicating high bacteria levels at the swim beaches. Park rangers will retest next week and reopen the beaches when test results indicate bacteria levels are within an acceptable range.
