Tacos and Testimonies to raise money for local organization

A special community event will raise money for an area nonprofit.

Tacos and Testimonies is set for September 23 and will be a moving evening filled with inspiring personal testimonies, fellowship, a silent auction, raffles and delicious walking tacos.

Tacos and Testimonies is being hosted by Built on Unity, a local initiative designed to unite people through community events that raise awareness and support for the nonprofits in our area. Built on Unity events are staffed by clients of Standing by the Door, a nonprofit that is dedicated to helping those in recovery to reintegrate into the community. Working with Built on Unity allows the Standing by the Door clients the opportunity to offer their service to the community.

The Tacos and Testimonies event also serves as a fundraiser for Standing by the Door.

"Standing by the Door has been actively pursuing grants to expand their services," explained Built on Unity's Elizabeth Atchley. "They are seeking a workforce development grant and a transportation grant, which will make it possible to purchase a new van to serve program participants better. The goal of Tacos and Testimonies is to raise funds to complement these grants, ensuring the organization has the necessary support to implement these programs fully and continue offering hope and practical resources to those in need."

Tacos and Testimonies is set for Tuesday, September 23, beginning at 6 p.m., at 202 Vaughn Road in Branson. Admission is just $15 per person, payable at the door, and includes dinner and a ticket for the evening's big prize raffle.

"Everyone is invited to attend," said Atchley. "The evening will include delicious tacos, powerful personal testimonies, fun raffles and games. It's a chance for the community to come together, enjoy a meal and hear inspiring stories of hope and transformation. Bring your family, friends and neighbors for an uplifting night that supports a great cause."
