Runners and community members alike will once again have the rare opportunity to race down the runway at Branson Airport during the Runway for Hope 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run, set for Saturday, May 16. Presented by Table Rock Community Bank, this unique event allows participants to run directly on the airport runway in support of Hope Counseling Center’s mission to provide accessible mental health service to everyone.
New this year, the event introduces the “Lift the Weight Flight,” a special weighted division to symbolize the emotional weight many people carry with mental health challenges. Participants in this division will run the 5K while wearing weighted backpacks or vests with prizes being awarded to the top three finishers.
Runners of all ages and fitness levels will enjoy a flat, fast and scenic course with the rare chance to experience an airport from an entirely new perspective. For those looking for a more relaxed pace, a 1-mile fun run/walk option provides an easy and enjoyable way to participate and show support.
“We are excited to bring this event back to the runway and introduce the “Lift the Weight Flight” this year,” said Kyle David, Executive Director of Hope Counseling Center. “Mental health struggles can feel incredibly heavy. This new division is a powerful way to recognize that weight while raising funds to ensure people in our community can access the counseling services they need.”
Registration and event details: Saturday, May 16, 2026, 7 a.m., at the Branson Airport, 4000 Branson Airport Blvd, Hollister. For registration: https://www.hopecounselingmo.org/runway-for-hope. Proceeds support accessible mental health counseling services through Hope Counseling Center.
All registered participants will receive an official race T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in each age category. Additional recognition will be given to participants competing in the new Lift the Weight Flight division.
“We’re proud to once again host this unique event,” said Stan Field, Executive Director of Branson Airport. “It’s a chance for the community to experience something few people ever get to do - run an airport runway - while supporting an organization doing vital work for mental health in our region.”
Registration is now open. For more information or to sign up, visit the registration link above or contact Tracey Field at 417-901-2329 or tracey@hopecounselingmo.org.
