One of Branson's most beautiful resorts recently celebrated a ribbon cutting event.
Branson's Hillside Hotel and Theatre, formerly the Welk Resort and Theatre, located just south of Branson on Historic State Highway 165, are owned by Urbana Hospitality, a part of the Urbana Holdings family of companies. They are a successful investment group who has owned and managed properties in various markets.
Gideon Dunn serves as general manager of the luxurious venue.
"The resort is a property founded and focused on catering to the full scope of the Branson visitor," said Dunn. "At the heart of the property is a 159-room, modern hotel with welcoming staff and spotless rooms to make our guests feel right at home after a journey to Branson. The opposite end of the property is home to a 2,200 seat, world-class venue that has hosted all-star entertainers for over 30 years. In the middle of the complex is a delightful restaurant and bar. The Stage Door Restaurant starts your day off right, with a delicious hot breakfast, and the Stage Door Lounge is a chill vibe where you can enjoy a dinner entree, late night snack, or drinks after a day of exploring the Ozarks. The resort also entertains guests with a putt-putt course and a pool to cool off on those hot summer afternoons. And, for the families enjoying a night in with us, movies on the lawn are always a hit in good weather."
Dunn shared his thoughts about operating a resort and theatre with such a rich history as the Welk Resort and Theatre, bearing the name of the great Lawrence Welk. Said Dunn, "The iconic facility is a blessing to work in. The 'wall of fame' backstage literally oozes entertainment glory, regaling memories of stage royalty."
The Branson Hillside Hotel and Theatre recently celebrated their new ownership and official Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting.
"We had a wonderful time with the Chamber of Commerce," said Dunn. "The day was full of conversations about the incredible history of the property and the excitement for what the Urbana team has in store for the next chapter. The Branson Hillside Hotel and Theatre is excited to grow with Branson and continue to serve our guests with world-class hospitality and good old-fashioned Ozark charm."
The Branson Hillside Theatre will be featuring “The Chronicles of Narnia” series with Prince Caspian on stage June 12 - August 8, followed by “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” August 19 through December 19.
The Stage Door Restaurant is currently open for breakfast Thursday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dinner is offered Wednesday through Saturday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
"We hope all the folks from out of town visit our website and book a room for their stay at www.bransonhillside.com, or grab tickets to the show at www.narniabranson.com," said Dunn. "And local neighbors and travelers alike come and try out the delicious meals at the Stage Door."
