Reader’s Corner: ‘Launch into Learning’

It’s always exciting to see our local area businesses supporting our area schools, whether through fundraising, volunteering, or helping provide needed items. One of those supportive events is currently happening at Table Rock Community Bank, with “Launch into Learning” happening throughout the month of July. 

This is the second annual Community Book Drive to help schools prepare for the upcoming year by collecting books for local students. Last year’s inaugural event was a success, with over 400 books distributed to area schools, and this year, organizers are dreaming even bigger, with a goal of collecting over 1,000 books to be distributed to at least 10 schools. 

Giving a yearly refresh to school bookshelves is a way to help proactively address the sad trend of low literacy happening in many parts of the U.S., giving tangible support to teachers and librarians for their valuable work helping combat that trend. New books are a huge blessing to school librarians trying to provide new materials for young readers while staying on budget for other needed supplies. By giving students fresh reading materials, members of the community can help them start the new school year with confidence and excitement and start a lifelong habit of enjoyment of reading.  

Ready to participate? You can make a difference while you’re out doing your regular errands, or beat the heat by browsing from the comfort of your couch at home: 

• Drop off at any branch: Donations of both brand-new and gently loved books are being accepted at all Table Rock Community Bank branch locations during July. Just look for the "Launch into Learning" displays in the lobbies. 

• Shop the master wish list: Want to buy something specific that our local educators truly need? TRCB has collaborated with partner schools to create a single, consolidated Master Wish List.
