Reader’s Corner: Good coffee, good books at Grace Upon Grace

What’s better than a good bookstore? How about a bookstore that also serves good coffee, homemade treats and opportunities for encouraging, family-friendly fellowship? That’s what guests will find at Grace Upon Grace Books and Coffee, located at 19277 St. Rt. 413 in Branson West.

Wade and Kristi Wilbanks had been thinking and praying about the idea of a family business for a while, and settled on the decision to do a bookstore after God separately confirmed that specific business to each of them. Their ideas became a reality starting in late 2024. 

Married for 26 years, and an experienced homeschool family for the past 23, the Wilbanks have eight children and three grandchildren. As a family, they have hosted the Family Reformation Conference to encourage families in their faith and parenting, and their dedication to encouraging other families has helped shape the direction of Grace Upon Grace. It’s more than just a bookstore, hosting Bible studies and group discussions; providing a venue for special celebrations; and offering family-friendly events such as music nights featuring local musicians. For those who may be new to, or considering, homeschooling and have questions, a “homeschooling how-to’s” class is a possibility for the near future as well. 

The bookstore side of things features independent Christian authors vetted for clarity and values; Generations homeschooling curriculum; and historical fiction. There is a good selection of children’s books, focusing on quality content, Christian values and adventure; a nice selection of Bibles; and specialty art and gift sections, including some work by the couple’s children, several of whom have their own project-based business endeavors or help in the store. 

The coffee shop area is a great place to gather for a treat and conversation, with a nice selection of coffee drinks at reasonable prices, featuring Foxen Coffee. Organic ingredients are used for the pastries, and there are allergy-friendly options.

Regular shop hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. On Friday evening, March 27, there will be a time of worship free to the public, with pizza by the slice available for purchase, so why not bring family and friends to enjoy some fellowship and worship the Lord together!
