This year marked the 25th anniversary of the special morning, one of the largest prayer events in the country. The Ozark Mountain Prayer Breakfast began in the 1990s when Don Gabriel, father of Branson headliner Doug Gabriel, founded the Branson Christian Business Men's Committee (CMBC) to help build a stronger and more active Christian community in Branson. Gabriel and the CMBC began the prayer breakfast, initially known as the Branson Mayor's Prayer Breakfast, as a way for the community to gather in prayer. The Ozark Mountain Prayer Breakfast has grown into one of the area's most recognized events.

The 2026 prayer breakfast included a delicious buffet breakfast, sharing of scripture, and prayer for our community, our state and our nation.

The keynote speaker for the morning was Major League Baseball Coach Alan Cockrell, who gave a powerful message of faith, discipline and passion.

The Don and Dorothy Gabriel Kingdom Builder Award was presented to Doug Lay. The Kingdom Builder Award is given each year to the person who contributes to the quality of the community by demonstrating in words and actions a dedicated and dynamic Christian life.

Doug Gabriel, star of the Doug Gabriel Ultimate Variety Show and son of the Ozark Mountain Prayer Breakfast founder Don Gabriel, performed special music for the event.

"What a great Ozark Mountain Prayer Breakfast," said Gabriel. "I was honored to be asked to sing for this year's 25th anniversary of the prayer breakfast that my dad started many years ago. Every year I get emotional at this event, as I'm so proud of my dad and mom for being such godly servants for Jesus Christ! I know they were looking down with a big smile to see how large the prayer breakfast has become."
