New nonprofit helps many families and individuals

Branson is home to a new organization that shares the love of Jesus by providing necessities to those in need.

The Neighbor's House officially opened in August of this year, to serve individuals and families experiencing a need for clothing, essential items, household resources and community support.

Incorporated as a Missouri nonprofit organization, co-directors Nikki Powell and Krystal Van Voorst, are in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status for tax exempt recognition.

The Neighbor's House provides "clothing, essential items and resources to those in need, without judgement or barriers," explained Van Voorst. "We serve with dignity and compassion, while working to build a caring community where no one faces needs alone."

The opening day for The Neighbor's House was Friday, August 28, with a special event from 2-6 p.m.

"We were able to bless many families by providing clothing and essential items at no cost," said Van Voorst. "We were also grateful to begin establishing partnerships with other local resources so we can better connect people with additional services and support."

The Neighbor's House welcomes both donations and volunteers. Donations are accepted by appointment unless a specific date and time is announced through the organization's Facebook page for donation drop-offs. Members of the community can also support this special organization through volunteering, sharing the nonprofit's mission and helping to connect individuals and families in need with resources The Neighbor's House can offer.

The Neighbor's House is located at 800 State Highway 248 #2E in Branson. This is a temporary location as the co-directors search for a more permanent home for The Neighbor's House.

Currently, The Neighbor's House is planning a follow-up event in September.

Said Van Voorst, "Our next event is September 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.," noted Van Voorst. "Our goal is to be open approximately twice each month. We would like to establish a consistent schedule so individuals and families know when and where they can find us. We are always open to suggestions from the community regarding dates and times that would be most helpful."

"We want every person who walks through our doors to leave knowing they are seen, valued and loved, and not alone," Van Voorst added.
