Some local residents pitched in to raise COLD hard cash recently for one of the area's nonprofits.
A special Polar Plunge event saw brave men and women of the community jumping into Lake Taneycomo last week in an effort to raise money for Christian Action Ministries.
"Thank you to Silver Dollar City and Hollister Mayor Jeff Long and Hollister Chamber Director John Hagey for taking the Plunge for Hunger," said CAM Executive Director Michelle Dean. "These two teams raised over $7,000 for food insecurity in the Ozarks. The sun might've been warm, but the water was still freezing!"
Christian Action Ministries operates the food pantries and mobile food outreaches in Taney and Stone counties.
The next Christian Action Ministries Plunge for Hunger event is set for Wednesday, February 25, at 9 a.m. at Lilley's Landing Resort and Marina.
