Local cookie ministry delivers 221 dozen reasons to say thanks
More than 2,600 homemade cookies made their way from the ovens of New Testament Christian Church members to first responders and public employees across Stone County recently, each carrying a simple message: thank you.
Organized by Sue Childers, NTCC’s Cookie Ministry brings church volunteers together to bake and deliver treats as a way of showing appreciation to those who serve the community. The latest distribution included 221 dozen cookies and nine desserts.

New Testament Christian Church Board Chairman Jerry Jenkins said the Cookie Ministry is one of several special services through which church members show their appreciation for those serving the community. Church volunteers bake cookies and desserts, which are then delivered to emergency service groups throughout the area.
“Our church family at NTCC loves to express our appreciation to the community,” Jenkins said. “The Cookie Ministry is one way we can show our appreciation to those who serve our community.”
Recipients of this batch of sweet treats included White River Electric Coop, Reeds Spring Police and Public Works, Stone County Road & Bridge at Galena, Stone County Sheriff’s Offices, Galena Police and Public Works, Ozark Electric Coop, Stone County Ambulance Branson West, Branson West Police and Public Works, Stone County 911 Dispatch, Southern Stone County Fire, Kimberling City Public Works, Kimberling City Police, Ambulance Response Center at Lampe, Fire House No. 2 on Old Highway 13 in the Stoneridge/Kimberling City area and Ambulance Response Center at Stoneridge on Old Highway 13.
According to NTCC, Donna Klick, Jerry Kirk, Dave and Alicia Rohrer, Jack and Nancy Swank, Jenkins and Doyle Childers assisted with the deliveries to locations throughout Stone County.
Sue Childers said the ministry is as meaningful to those giving as they hope it is to those receiving.
“It’s a privilege for us to bake and distribute our cookies,” Childers said. “We hope it’s as much of a blessing to them as it is to us. And it’s fun!”
