Leftovers for Locals invites community to Lock Up Hunger

Looking for a little car-themed fun for a good cause? Check out “Lock-Up for Hunger,” Sheriff Buford T. Justice’s “Jail & Bail Food Drive” benefiting Leftovers for Locals. In partnership with Trans Am Takeover Car Shows, this special community effort will take place on Friday, September 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Branson Auto & Farm Museum, 1335 W. 76 Country Blvd. in Branson. 

How it works: 

For a $10 donation to Leftovers for Locals, you nominate your co-worker, boss, family member, or friend for a fun mock arrest involving “crimes” like “excessive community service” or “being too generous.” After their warrant is issued, they can turn themselves in or a deputy will come and arrest them and haul them to jail, complete with a mugshot. They can earn their freedom with a food donation or cash “bail.” Bail amounts vary starting at lower prices for individual family and friends and increasing for small businesses and churches; larger businesses and theaters; or high-profile local celebs. 

For a little more action, an additional donation sends Sheriff Buford T. Justice and Junior with full lights and sirens, Bandit-style. Or, if that much action isn’t your style, you can avoid the risk of arrest with an up-front monetary or food donation.
