What began as a vision for generations to come is ready to take root in Kimberling City.

The City of Kimberling City will break ground on its future multi-generational park Friday, Oct. 16, marking a milestone in a project years in the making and giving the community its first look at the park’s new name.

According to information provided by Kimberling City Administrator Dawne Gardner, years of collaboration, planning and community engagement have helped move the park from an idea toward construction. The project was developed with a focus on recreation, wellness and connection while creating a gathering place designed to serve the community for generations.

That community involvement has continued as the project moves forward. Residents, visitors, businesses and supporters participated in a community-wide naming campaign, casting votes to help select the park’s official name. The winning name will be revealed during the Oct. 16 groundbreaking celebration.

The city and Friends of Kimberling City Parks Foundation have also launched a charitable giving campaign, providing another way for the community to take part as plans move toward construction.

Park Board Chair Korina Jones said the park reflects the collaboration and shared vision that has shaped the project.

“This park will represent the very best of our community,” Jones said. “It reflects years of collaboration, shared vision and a commitment to future generations.”

Jones said that vision includes creating a place where the experiences and memories made there can continue well beyond the park’s opening.

“Together, we're creating a place where families will gather, children will play, and lasting memories will be made for decades to come,” Jones said.

The groundbreaking will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the future park site on Kimberling Boulevard behind Dollar General. Party at the Park will follow the ceremony with music, refreshments and guided tours of the site. Parking will be available at the Masonic Lodge, 54 Kimberling Boulevard.

The community is invited to attend the groundbreaking, celebrate the park’s name reveal and take part in the next chapter of a project shaped with the future of Kimberling City in mind.
