Kimberling Area Library announces completion of ADA Bench Project funded by Our Stone County

The Kimberling Area Library is pleased to announce the successful completion of its ADA Bench Project in the Children’s Garden, made possible through generous funding from Our Stone County. The project enhances accessibility and comfort for visitors of all ages and abilities who enjoy the Children’s Garden and Sound Garden Playground areas, our outdoor literacy spaces.

With support from Our Stone County’s community improvement grant program, the library identified, purchased and installed two ADA‑compliant steel benches this week. Site preparation required less work than originally anticipated, allowing the library to use remaining funds to add new landscaping around the seating area—creating a more welcoming and visually appealing space for families, caregivers and older adults.

“Our Stone County’s investment in accessible outdoor spaces has made a meaningful difference for our patrons,” said Yvette Ayres, President of the Kimberling Area Library. “These benches expand comfort and inclusion in an area that is used daily by children, grandparents and community members enjoying the gardens and play area.”

The ADA Bench Project reflects the shared commitment of the Kimberling Area Library and Our Stone County to strengthen community gathering spaces, support outdoor learning and ensure that public amenities remain accessible to all. Several larger initiatives are planned through 2027.
