Jim Barber announces final broadcast of The Barber Shop

A well known voice in the Ozarks is retiring from the airwaves.

Jim Barber, host of The Barber Shop on 98.1 FM Branson4U, has announced his final broadcast of the popular radio show.

Barber, a talented comedian and ventriloquist, developed an interest in radio at an early age, studying broadcasting and doing some on-air work early in his career. 

Barber joined the Ozarks Dynacom family of radio stations five years ago, launching The Barber Shop, which became a popular source for entertainment and community news and classic music. His show airs daily, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Last fall, Barber began broadcasting his show remotely through The Barber Bus, a vehicle he and wife Melonie use to travel to Barber's various performances across the country,

In announcing his plan to leave Branson4U, Barber cited his decision to increase the touring aspect of his career, as well as spend more time with family. Barber and Melonie will continue to share their experiences through their YouTube channel, "The Barber Bus" and their website, BarberBus.org.

Barber expressed his gratitude to Ozarks Dynacom's staff and management for allowing him to be part of their organization for the past five years and to the community for their overwhelming support

Barber, who resides locally, will continue to be active in the area of Branson entertainment, with his involvement with The Vacation Channel and performances at The Comedy Bash Dinner Show at Shepherd of the Hills.

Jim Barber's final episode of The Barber Shop takes place on Friday, May 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
