Hiring fair connects area employers with potential employees

On Tuesday, September 8, Taney County Partnership and the Missouri Job Center collaborated to host the Tri-Lakes Hiring Event at the offices of the Branson Chamber of Commerce. A total of 22 local employers from the hospitality industry, healthcare, education, nonprofits, law enforcement and more, had representatives on hand to describe available opportunities, answer questions and accept resumes.

There were at least 47 prospective employees in attendance at the hiring event, with several employers commenting that it was one of the best-attended in which they had participated. New this year was a special window of time for veterans to attend, with 18 participating; and ten of the job-seekers were between the ages of 16-24. 

Participating area employers included ADM Deerland, Big Cedar Lodge, Branson Hilton Convention Center Hotel, Branson Public Schools, Chick-fil-A, CoxHealth, Elevate Branson, ESS (substitute teachers and education-related), Fritz’s Adventure, Hollister Police Department, Home Instead, Lifetime Destinations, Link Electronics, Marriott Resorts Hospitality Corporation, OACAC Head Start, Phoenix Home Care and Hospice, Quality Clean, Renewal by Andersen, Stone County Developmental Disability Board, Taney County Sheriff’s Office, The Mansion Theatre and Wonders of Wildlife. 

Jonas Tavares, director of workforce development with the Branson Chamber, said he received positive feedback from employers and prospective employees alike about the connections made at the hiring event. At least one attendee mentioned that it was encouraging to see how many employers provide well-paid training, and also to learn more about Elevate Branson’s work readiness classes. 

Tavares encouraged any area job-seekers who were unable to attend in person to check out the participating employers’ job postings online. 

“I believe this event provides a great opportunity to connect with community members seeking employment,” said April Hawkins of Branson Public Schools. “We greatly appreciate the community efforts between Taney County Partnership, the Job Center and the Chamber working together to coordinate this fair and the opportunity to meet many potential team members in one day.” 

The next hiring event in the area will be held at the Ozarks Technical Community College Richwood Valley Campus in Ozark, coordinated by the Missouri Job Center office serving Taney County and Christian County.
