A sorrowful situation and a selfless donation result in what promises to be an outstanding month at the Friends of the Library Used Book Store.
June is the month of love and it brings about a special sale: Love is in the Air. During the month of June, romance books, normally priced at $3 each, are on sale for just $1 apiece. For an extra special deal, you can bundle and save by selecting three romance books for $1 total.
This unique sale came about thanks to a loving act from a local family.
"A woman came in asking for help bringing in donation boxes," explained Beth Schulz, manager of the Friends of the Library Used Book Store. "I went to the car with her, with our cart. A man was there to take the books from the car to the cart. He did not say anything. After all the boxes were delivered, the woman opened up a bit in the store, saying this was her daughter-in-law's collection. She had recently passed away from cancer. The man at the car was the deceased woman's husband. He and his mother were bringing in the donation. The boxes were filled with romance books."
The Love is in the Air Sale runs through the month of June at the Friends of the Library Used Book Store, a nonprofit shop designed to provide funds for special projects of the Library Center of the Ozarks.
Operated by The Friends of the Library, the volunteer-run store is located in the lower level of the Library Center of the Ozarks, 200 South 4th Street in downtown Branson. Book store hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
